Meet Dorota Gryka – Nominated by MP Lifts

Improving accessibility in urban mobility 

Originally from Poland, Dorota has been living in Spain for the last 20 years. She grew up near the Białowieża National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, which gave her a strong appreciation for nature and sustainability.

Twelve years ago, she joined MP Lifts, a global Spanish organisation delivering accessibility and mobility solutions in buildings. She is part of the Key Accounts team, which focus on the company's most challenging projects, including supporting Madrid’s century-old metro network and innovative technological projects such as ITER, CERN and MAX IV.

In her current role, Dorota leads strategic projects focused on accessibility, digital transformation and urban mobility. She provides both technical and strategic leadership, coordinating cross-functional teams and aligning business, engineering and operational stakeholders to successfully deliver complex projects.  Her responsibilities include project planning, stakeholder coordination, budget management and the implementation of innovative solutions that improve mobility and users' experience in cities. She is currently focused on transportation infrastructure to optimise passenger flow and to secure remote connectivity, enabling daily operations and strategic decision making. 

Improving accessibility through transport infrastructure

Dorota is particularly proud of accessibility projects for transportation networks as they require careful coordination between multiple stakeholders, detailed planning and a strong focus on user needs, while having a direct impact on how thousands of people experience public transport every day.

These projects also connect closely with her experience in connected systems and her contribution to the ISO working group on new technologies in lifts. This has given her expertise in advanced transport technologies, digitalisation, interoperability and intelligent infrastructure, and a multidisciplinary perspective on translating emerging technologies into scalable mobility solutions.

Making sustainable mobility the natural choice

For Dorota, one of the main mobility challenges cities face is encouraging a greater shift from private vehicles to sustainable transport alternatives. While significant progress has been made in public transport, pedestrian and cycling infrastructure, she believes there is still work to be done to make multimodal mobility seamless, attractive and accessible for all citizens.

Looking ahead, she would like to see sustainable mobility become the natural choice.She hopes to see walking, cycling, public transport and shared mobility fully integrated, allowing people to move efficiently without depending on private cars, alongside more accessible public spaces, greener streets and a higher quality of urban life.

Why the Emerging Leaders program?

Dorota discovered the EIT Urban Mobility Emerging Leaders program through her involvement with EIT Urban Mobility and RMIT University training programs and her academic studies in Intelligent Transport Systems.

She was particularly attracted by the combination of leadership development, innovation and real-world urban mobility conversations, as well as the opportunity to learn alongside professionals from different countries, sectors and disciplines who bring different perspectives to shared mobility challenges. Working fluently in four languages, she values international collaboration and knowledge exchange as key drivers for innovation across Europe.

Building leadership to create greater impact

The Emerging Leaders program aligns closely with Dorota's long-term goal of contributing to more accessible, sustainable and people-centred mobility systems.

She sees the program as an opportunity to strengthen her leadership and strategic thinking skills, build partnerships, drive change in complex environments and develop the international network needed to create greater impact within her organisation and across the mobility sector. She also aims to strengthen her ability to lead cross-sector initiatives and accelerate the large-scale deployment of innovative mobility solutions across Europe.
