As the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic continues, RMIT remains committed to supporting our students and staff at home and overseas.

Latest update - Saturday 27 February

The health, safety and wellbeing of the RMIT community is our absolute priority and we are continuing to take advice and guidance from the relevant authorities.

We ask our community to please follow the latest government advice, so we can all play our part in containing the transmission of COVID-19.


Current Restrictions 

RMIT's Victorian  campuses are open and all learning and teaching activities are proceeding as planned for students in Higher Education, Vocational Education and the Victorian Certificate of Education.

Students should check Canvas for specific information relating to classes and on campus activities. 

RMIT has rigorous COVIDSafe practices and protocols in place and we are ready to welcome staff and students to campus.. Students can find detailed information about campus safety and access protocols on the Return to campus page.


Masks on campus 

Students will be required to wear masks in teaching spaces where 1.5m cannot be maintained. These spaces are clearly signposted. Teaching staff will be exempt from wearing masks when teaching. 

Please carry a mask with you at all times when on campus and wear as required. 


Learning, Teaching and Research

All learning and teaching activities will will proceed as scheduled from Monday 1 March 2021. This includes students in Higher Education, Vocational Education and the Victorian Certificate of Education.

WIL placements are proceeding as planned.

We are proud of our community’s continued response to COVID-19 and willingness to innovate and adapt during this difficult time.

Despite the challenges we face, we remain focused on continuing our leading research and providing quality learning experiences for our students.


Health and Wellbeing

We recommend the RMIT community continues following authoritative government and health sources to remain informed.

We are focused on the wellbeing of our people and a range of support services are available to the RMIT community. We encourage those who need it to reach out to the relevant contacts on our student and staff (login required) channels. 

RMIT’s COVIDSafe Plan outlines the measures required to safely support the resumption of on-campus activities when it is safe to do so.

We are extremely proud of our diverse, vibrant and passionate community of students and staff and will continue to do everything we can to support everyone through these changes to the way we study and work.
